Vincero Watches Review – Ali Express Quality?

Last Updated on February 26, 2021 by swisswatchreview

Vincero is a relatively new start-up watch company that first stepped onto the road of development in 2010 through the collaboration of three friends who moved to China. The site advertises that this was to streamline the production process in which they were involved at every step of the way. But for a brand claiming to offer well-made products with value, this is where their claims start to fall down as has been detailed in this article and many others.

Better for the Price

If you want to get more bang for your buck, or in this case, a better quality watch that will last for longer, buy another brand. Invest in on one of the more classic watch producers who have a long history of meeting customer needs and providing value for money – and then some. There are complaints with Vincero watches about the poor quality components, or the strap breaking within a month (often within weeks and in a few cases, within a handful of uses) and the watch itself not living up to what they advertise. More than one customer has spoken about that dust is visible in components such as the panels used to make it scratch resistant, suggesting that it is made in a dusty environment. As anyone with a little bit of horological knowledge will know, when it comes to making watches, the cleaner your environment the better.

Trendy versus Classic

Fashion watches are  closer to the trendy end of the scale than the classic one. This isn’t a bad thing in itself! But trendy and classic are two very different things when it comes to luxury brands – or brands that are trying to be luxury – and for the most part, a lot of brands are aware of where the line is and don’t cross over into turf that isn’t theirs, so to speak. They know their audience, they know the budget and more or less stick to it. Vincero, on the other hand, advertises itself as a classic watch when, in terms of design and quality, it hits square in the middle of ‘trendy’. In short, it doesn’t match the marketing of being something that you can wear as well with a suit as you can with jeans and a t-shirt.

Branding versus Heritage, Craftsmanship and Innovation

When it comes to making a quality product, there are certain ways of doing things that result in something that is durable, fashionable and high quality. Heritage is one of these things. The longer a brand’s history, the longer they’ve had to test, trial and refine their design, production and commercial processes. Any speedbumps have been smoothed out over years. Craftsmanship is something that a watch company in particular should be concerned with. Innovation isn’t a bad thing either but things like value and quality should not be sacrificed under the banner of making forward progress and being a cut above the rest. Particularly in the watch-making market, if you are going to throw those words out there, the products should stand up to testing and rigorous use alongside their competitors.

In House? Outsourced and Unsustainable

Once discrepancy that has been pointed out by footprint-conscious individuals is the fact that their watches bear a striking resemblance to watches available on Ali Express for considerably cheaper.  Even if the watch is assembled in house, the components are repeatedly reported to feel cheap and clumsily manufactured. There is none of the smoothness or refined polish that one would expect when sinking a fair chunk of money into an investment timepiece. Now, there is nothing wrong with outsourcing to other manufacturers. Companies do this all the time. But passing off their work as your own and claiming that the products and components are of higher quality than they actually are is where the dishonesty presents itself. The outsourced nature of the production of both the watch and components does in turn make it more difficult for those concerned about the sustainability of its production to look into the footprint of the company. In this day and age, with carbon footprints and damage to the environment being an increasing concern, companies are becoming more transparent about what is involved in making their products from start to finish. Not Vincero however. This alone is a red flag in itself for purchasers who are particularly concerned.

Louder Speech, More Narrative Control

When it comes to marketing in the digital age, investing a lot of money into promoting your company and products is the way to go. That said, you need to have something worth selling in the first place. One thing that Trump’s disastrous rise to power highlighted was that if you shout loud enough, you can exert more control of the narrative – or seem to at any rate. This is essentially advertising with a steamroller. One thing that stands out about older and more timeless classical luxury brands is that they are often more subtle about their claims. They let their products do the talking for them. Vincero relies on a lack of consumer awareness to market its watches, throwing in keywords and phrases that sound like they know what they are talking about. Any horologist worth their salt can pick apart these claims. What’s more, it has also provided its products for influencers to review who aren’t watch specialists – maybe because it knows the watches would get picked apart otherwise? Either way, deliberately going for someone outside of your market segment to advertise your product is questionable.

Poor Customer Service

One thing that crops up time and time again when searching through their online reviews is the sheer number of them that mention how poor the customer service is. Surely for a company as successful as Vincero, they can afford to hire a team dedicated to engaging with potential and current customers in addition to dealing with negative feedback? Doing the unprofessional business equivalent of sticking your head in the sand or fingers in your ears does not mean that the negative reviews will magically go away. Multiple reviews repeatedly state the difficulty that people have had when it comes to trying to get in contact with the company, whether it is their so-called assigned individual from the customer support team all the way up to one of the CEOs. Who, I might add, stated that a customer could simply reply to one of their advertising emails and that they personally would respond.

Negative Reviews

Very rare is it that a brand completely escapes from being the recipient of negative reviews. Reputable brands will own up to any mistakes, repair the damage and focus on rebuilding the trust between their products and their clients. It takes time, effort and dedication to do so. Vincero, on the other hand, has been observed on at least one review site to respond with statements that blame the customer for any faults. In terms of the reviews on the site itself, it doesn’t post any negative reviews and any attempts at suggesting a lack of satisfaction (i.e. downvoting positive reviews) is simply erased from the site without a trace. It is one thing to personally respond to reviews to try and see if what is wrong can be fixed. It is another thing entirely to place the blame at the feet of the customer and to even actively ignore and remove reviews. This act alone places the company in a very negative and dishonest light.

In short, Vincero’s watches are good for people who want a higher end fashion watch but they don’t come close to being luxury, high quality and timeless in competition with brands like Baume & Mercier, Cartier and of course Rolex, to name a few among the many who’ve consistently provided quality products.

Despite negative reviews many people are pleased with with their Vincero watch so why not take a positive look at some of the more popular models. 3 men’s watches and 2 ladies watches.
